Exhibition "peeled from the egg"
December 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021

Exhibition „peeled from the egg“

Invitation

Ulrike E Sticher invites the citizens of the Darmstadt region to participate in the art installation "Hope". A free-floating installation is to be created from blown out eggs with lettering on the theme "Hope". As the saying goes: hope dies last. Hope lets you endure, overcome, persevere, expect good things, experience gratitude, see the beautiful. Hope confronts hopelessness actively or intuitively, consciously or unconsciously, with something positive.

The questions to the citizens for implementation are: What do you hope for? What is your hope called? What is your hope?

Write your answer to one of the questions with a permanent pen on a blown out egg.

Until Dec 18, 2020 the eggs (one egg per participant) can be handed in at Ulrike E Sticher in the Kunstraum Backstube, Frankensteiner Straße 5, 64297 Darmstadt-Eberstadt on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 am to 1 pm or on Fridays from 5 pm to 7 pm or by phone appointment under 06151-9180902.

The installation is a growing process of development and will be built up step by step during the December weeks. The installation is intended to keep hope high, despite or especially in these challenging times. It will be part of the exhibition "aus dem Ei gepellt" (peeled from the egg), in which I show works that deal with emotions and conditions in the covid crisis.

Since the beginning of March 2020 I have been dealing with the emotions and states of tension caused by the corona pandemic in relation to humans. The egg in all its components serves me here as an object and metaphor, and in this series of works is a symbol for life and the experience of life.

Most of the works in the exhibition can be purchased.

The exhibition starts on Dec 1, 2020 and ends on Feb 28, 2021.

The Kunstraum Backstube at Frankensteiner Straße 5, 64297 Darmstadt-Eberstadt is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A visit is also possible by phone appointment under 06151-9180902.

When visiting the gallery, the rules of distance and hygiene applicable at the time must be observed.
